Yellow Stingray

Yellow stingrays (Urobatis jamaicensis) have a rounded pectoral disc and a short tail with a well-developed caudal fin. Their dorsal side is highly variable but distinctive. The pectoral disc is no more than 1.3 times wider than it is long. Their dorsal skin can be smooth or covered in denticles or thorns, and is yellow in color. They have no dorsal fin. This bottom-dwelling species lives on sandy, muddy, or seagrass bottoms in shallow waters close to the coast.
