Introduction to diving: what to expect
Trying scuba diving for the first time is incredibly exciting, but it's completely normal to have questions about how it all works. We never rush our programs. We send you all paper work in a digital format so that you could take your time to fulfill it. When you arrive at our dive center in the South of Tenerife, our friendly team will welcome you, select your gear and give a detailed briefing. Whether we are diving from the beach or taking the boat, we always begin your experience in very shallow, waist-deep water. This gives you a chance to put your face under the surface for the first time, take your first breaths, and realize just how easy and natural it feels to breathe underwater while your feet can still touch the ground. Once you give your instructor the "OK" signal, the real magic begins! Your guide will gently lead you into the deeper blue and handle all the technical parts of the equipment for you—your only job is to breathe, relax, and admire the incredible rays, octopuses, and colorful fish swimming past. After exiting the water, we head back to the center to take off the gear, change into normal clothes and browse through underwater photos and videos captured by your instructor during your first dive in Tenerife!

The time shown during your booking is a starting reference. Because your safety depends on the daily weather, sea conditions, and reservation schedules, the exact time may adjust. If you chose transport from your hotel, we will pick you up before the starting hour of the tour. Please keep an eye on your email for our manual confirmation and make sure your phone is switched on.
EXPERIENCE DURATION: While your actual underwater time depends on the program you choose, we believe in a relaxed, thorough experience. We never rush our training or safety preparation. The entire program—including equipment fitting, theory briefing, and the dive—takes about 2.5 to 3 hours.
TRANSPORT NOTICE: If you choose to use our transfer service, please plan for extra time. Because this is shared group transport, there may be a short wait before your diving program starts or before returning to your hotel afterward.

Both options are designed for complete beginners with no prior experience, but they offer different levels of depth and recognition:
- STANDARD TRY DIVE: Perfect if you just want to experience the thrill of breathing underwater and see Tenerife's marine life without any studying. It includes a basic safety briefing and a fully guided 20 or 40-minute dive down to 6–8 meters.
- PADI DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING (DSD): Ideal if you want a more complete introduction or plan to get certified later. It includes digital PADI e-learning before you arrive, a 40-minute dive, and a practice session in shallow water to learn basic scuba skills. You receive an official PADI diploma of completion for the DSD program!

Booking rules and Refund
You can only take advantage of the price promotion if you book online. If you book less than 18 hours before the adventure, please call us to agree the meeting point and time. Check emails from us and keep the contact phone on. Let us know in the booking comment if you come with your own car.
You can get a refund if you cancel more than 24 hours before the tour. Remember we block place and assign instructor for each booking and therefore it cannot be cancelled less than 24 hours before.

FAQs
Yes, you can! Because you wear a buoyancy jacket (BCD) that can float on the surface at the press of a button, and because your instructor will be holding you or staying right by your side the entire time, strong swimming skills are not required.
Absolutely! If you choose the Try Dive by Boat, your family or friends can join you on the boat as passengers for an extra fee of 30 euros per person. They can enjoy the scenic boat trip, relax in the sunshine, and watch you gear up for your big adventure. Please book non-diver boat spots in advance, as boat space is limited!
If you choose the Shore Try Dive from our beach, your family has fantastic options to share the day with you! They can book a guided snorkeling tour or a kayak tour through our center. We coordinate these activities so everyone enters the water around the same time and place, allowing the whole family to explore the beautiful Bay of Stingrays together.
Your safety and comfort are our priorities. We start in shallow water and gently descend to a maximum depth of 6 to 8 meters (around 20–26 feet). This is the perfect depth for beginners because the sunlight is bright, the water is warm, and it is where most of Tenerife’s colorful marine life and rays like to hang out.
Scuba diving with Diving Atlantis is incredibly safe! Your safety and comfort are our top priorities. We keep our beginner groups very small so that our professional instructors can give you close, personal attention every second you are in the water. Your guide will be right next to you the entire time, helping you with your equipment and ensuring you feel completely secure and relaxed.
Our shore dive entry is famous for its resident marine life! You can regularly see friendly local stingrays (including Bull Rays and Butterfly Rays), curious octopuses, camouflaged cuttlefish, arrow crabs, and schools of colorful Atlantic fish.
Yes! Children can join our Try Dive program starting from 8 years old. For kids between 8 and 9 years old, we keep the experience extra shallow and gentle to ensure they have fun and feel completely secure. It is an unforgettable experience for a family holiday.
The price includes everything you need: a thorough safety briefing in your language, full high-quality rental equipment (wetsuit, fins, mask, scuba gear), professional instructor guidance, and participant insurance. As an extra (25 euros person) you can book your underwater pictures and videos. All you need to bring is a swimsuit, a towel, a dry change of clothes, and a smile!
No, you must wait a little bit. Due to safety rules regarding pressure changes in the body, you must wait at least 12 hours after a single introductory dive before flying on a plane. Please plan your booking so that you don’t have a flight scheduled later that same day.
Yes, definitely! Your instructor will carry a professional underwater camera to capture high-quality photos and videos of your very first breaths underwater and your encounters with the marine life. You can add pictures when booking online your dive for beginners.
