The PADI Deep Diver Specialty course at Diving Atlantis in Los Cristianos shifts your focus from casual sightseeing to precision dive planning. Over 2 days and 4 specialized open-water training dives along Tenerife’s deep volcanic reefs, you will progressively increase your depth while mastering the safety mechanics required for the 40-meter limit.

🩹 Stage 1: Independent E-Learning (Home Prep)

Before boarding our dive boat, you will complete the foundational theory online using the interactive PADI digital eLearning app.

  • What you learn: The physics of high-pressure gas, how to calculate emergency decompression, recognizing the symptoms of nitrogen narcosis, and configuring specialized deep-diving equipment like pony bottles or surface drop-tanks.

🛥️ Stage 2: The 4 Deep Training Dives (Ocean Practice)

Under the direct one-on-one guidance of our instructors, you will execute four progressive deep dives. Each dive has a specific tactical safety objective:

🔹 Dive 1: Setting the Foundation (Up to 30 Meters)

Your first dive bridges the gap from your Advanced course. We focus on buoyancy control at depth, maintaining a streamlined equipment profile, and managing your descent and ascent rates using natural references and dive computers.

  • Key Drill: Calculating your gas consumption rate under increased pressure to see exactly how fast your tank empties at depth compared to the surface.

🔹 Dive 2: Navigation & The Narcosis Challenge (Up to 40 Meters)

We descend further into the deep blue to experience the physical changes of high-pressure environments. Your instructor will conduct a timed cognitive test at depth to show you firsthand how nitrogen narcosis subtly affects your reaction times and clear thinking.

  • Key Drill: Executing precision compass navigation along the deep reef, ensuring you can oriented yourself even when experiencing mild narcosis.

🔹 Dive 3: The «Deep Color» & Physics Test (Up to 40 Meters)

As water pressure filters out sunlight, colors vanish. On this dive, you will observe how a pressurized environment alters common objects, like color charts or a sealed neoprene object that compresses under the weight of the ocean.

  • Key Drill: Simulating an out-of-air emergency at depth by practicing a controlled, rhythmic breathing ascent with a buddy’s alternate air source.

🔹 Dive 4: The Ultimate Deep Logistics Run (Up to 40 Meters)

Your final graduation dive pulls everything together. You and your buddy will independently plan and execute a complete deep-water profile, managing your own bottom time, gas limits, and navigation path while your instructor observes.

Step 1. The Multilevel Ascent:

Upon reaching your planned bottom time or gas limit, you will execute a slow, controlled ascent rate of no faster than 9 meters per minute.

Step 2.The Simulated Emergency Decompression Stop:

At 5 meters (15 feet), you will deploy a Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) and conduct an extended, weighted safety stop to simulate a decompression penalty, managing your buoyancy perfectly in mid-water.
