December, 8 – Feast Of The Immaculate Conception
Today it's a festive day in Spain, mass and other liturgical celebrations dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary are held in catholic churches. On this day believers celebrate the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary that is 9 months before the feast of the Nativity of Mary (September, 8). Nowadays in many countries the feast of December, 8 is one of the main religious events of the year. In all Spain it´s celebrated with parades, processions and festivities, in Madrid the archbishop holds a sermon and lays a basket of white roses by the statue of the Virgin Mary.
